Some of you surely have been following the " slammer smackdown" under Akmark. Based on that dialogue I think I would like to change my handle to " Tomato Boss " . I think we should take a vote. Master P, Porkchop and Marv please serve as the Security Council- any of you have veto power. Akmark feels I have no grace and he likes a fun, friendly environment. Let's give him one.

Dang dude, r u still jabbing? You threw some real comments my way. I am at a loss, I feel you are trying to get a political gangup, golf buddy beat- up on Mark. One more stab and I will never return to the forum.

I think this gentleman is not a liar! But he must understand that there are rules for weighing a tomato if he wants a GPC ranking. We do it all here.

After seeing the pics I believe the guy is for real. Too bad he does not have a picture of the tomatoes with a tape around them and one with them on a certified scale. I think next year he will be a competitor. I would like to hear more about how he grows hydroponically.

Patrick, my name elsewhere is The Big Tomato. Just to let you know the name is already taken as you may still be looking around.

Akmmark, I am not sure I have ever seen anyone apologize here. Most of us have at one time taken a beating at the hands of one of the "others."Please just stick around and contribute. It will be a long winter. Also, what varieties of tomato are you growing?

Hey atop Brush Mountain, I do have those pics somewhere, my biggest off the top of my head was 27.5 inches around.
When, or if, I get close to 29 inches, or a seemingly 7-8 pound tomato, I will be asking for a proper process other than my state avenue, that I do have a certificate from WM. I know what I needed to do for more attention, I just never thought seriously about such things. BTW, what is GPC anyway? lol I showed this thread to one of my growers, he is set loose, and is pretty sharp too.

I also forgot to mention that my scales are certified every year by Alaska Weights and Measures, which is the only reason they certified my tomatoes while there checking my calibration.

You will get no apologie from me Mark. You are the Jackass who attacked me and my family in the paper. You are a commercial grower badmouthing a home gardener. It took all this drama to finally get some pictures and to get you engaged with the forum. By the way I have a certified 5.66 and a 5.55 which I believe are larger than your two certified. When you look into the GPC requirements you will find that all our tomatoes have to be weighed on a certified scale. I am throwing down the gauntlet .. Grow your biggest Mark next year. As the pumpkin growers like to say.." when the taigate drops the BS stops"

Wow! I grew up in Alaska (does Juneau count?) and appreciate anything grown up there. Cannot wait for next year. I smell yet another Alaska reality show on its way..if it's not sasquatch or gold..it's giant tomatoes! You guys are for real and good growers. Take a step back and learn to work together.

Hey Patrick, why don't you post that badmouthing list, that is a hilarious take. All I said was I may just have a bigger tomato then put lol. I then said just call WM, and was just answering a question. I could careless about you apologizing your foul mouth says all I need to hear. It is a shame.

Hey guys respect each other as growers and take you other crap somewhere else. This site is to encourage growers not to demean them.

I tried to explain myself, and thought I did. I am tired of verbal attacks here, I was invited here by someone who followed some of my stuff for a couple of years, and all I have got out of it is irritation. See ya guys, some of you were pretty decent folks, but I am too busy for nonsense.I never claimed a world record, but did say I think we can break it, I claimed a 5.41, which I seen on my paperwork I found today 5.42, and a 5.51, more not certified in the same range. That's it, spin it how you all want, I am sorry I could not immediately follow that up with pics, I usually do that stuff in winter.
This is the first of its kind for me out of interaction with thousands of growers, and my instinct says walk for happiness.

one thing i will say about the Giant Veg Growers site. You never see this kind of disrespect. Getting worst every day! You can't ask a question ,you can't ask for advice and you can't give an opinion without getting attacked.

An occurrence such as this is not at all uncommon during the winter months when growers can no longer endure the weather and the inability to get out in the garden. I think this earlier occurrence is due to El Ninja (sp). This could prove to be a very long winter. Akmark should have stuck around but chose not to. Maybe he will return. We will see. It is hard to just walk away.
