I have yellow leaves a the stump of my watermelon... what's up? Any info from anyone.

If they aren't wilting in the sun or doing anything else abnormal. I would assume it would be a nitrogen deficiency. We have had extremely wet weather with lots of rain and overcast conditions. Synthetic Nitrogen will be washed beneath the root zone out of reach of the plants. I would give them a shot of Nitrogen and see if they color up. Some warm, sunny weather will help too and should straighten them out.

also watch out for disease issues, with the wet weather, that may also be the problem

How big is the plant? Lots of original leaves at transplant always seem to be frail and smaller. Once the plant is going I normally cut them off anyway. I wouldn't be too concerned about them as long as the rest of the plant looks healthy.
