Hi, just interested to know if there is an ideal pollinating distance out from the main stump for Watermelons. I have been informed that it is around the 13 - 16 feet mark for pumpkins, but really interested to find out what most have found it to be for Watermelons. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I wouldn't mind others input on this topic. If 12 is good, how close is still in the good range. I had terrible luck last year. All my sets were inside 7 feet. No females after that.

i have decided that too far out is worse then too close. But you need a big enought plant. So 11-14 to give a wide range but 12 is good but the plants don't have a tape measure ! LOL

Do you prune vines similar to AG's also or just try to set at desired distance on main vine and let all other growth go?
