Hi, just interested to know if there is an ideal pollinating distance out from the main stump for Watermelons.
I have been informed that it is around the 13 - 16 feet mark for pumpkins, but really interested to find out what most have found it to be for Watermelons.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Ok cheers, will aim for that, last season i was somewhere around maybe 3-4 feet, way too close by the looks of things.

I wouldn't mind others input on this topic. If 12 is good, how close is still in the good range. I had terrible luck last year. All my sets were inside 7 feet. No females after that.

i have decided that too far out is worse then too close. But you need a big enought plant. So 11-14 to give a wide range but 12 is good but the plants don't have a tape measure ! LOL

Do you prune vines similar to AG's also or just try to set at desired distance on main vine and let all other growth go?
