I saved some seeds from a commercially grown striped watermelon that was in a field with a solid green variety. The two big watermelons are currently growing phase and are a strange off-white color and wanted to know if anyone knows why this has occurred. If you've seen it before or know about it, do you think the inside will end up being edible and sweet? Thanks for any insight.

the two melons are probably 15 to 20 days old from pollination as a guess, they are also large in size already

sounds like it may have been crossed with a solid green variety melon and that is just how they start no worries at all if the melon is growing decently, as far as when sweet/edible im sure it will be but I still have no idea when to pick them to eat so you are on your own there but i will say AT least after day 40-45

normally they are ready when the tendril at the melon stem starts to turn burn... don't water it the last week or 2 before picking it for better flavor
