Melons must have good seeds. Melons must be solid. Melons must be Carolina Cross.

1.all watermelon must be weighed on certified scales.
2.state,county, etc. fairs or weigh offs are the preferred weighing environment.
3. weighing at none #2 sites must have several none related witnesses and possibly notarize documentation plus local media.
4. all participants must regularly report on plant growth,flowering , set time and time to ripeness.
5. all seeds must only those provided contest.
6. only the contest melon seeds must be grown near by
to prevent cross polination of the resulting seeds.

I am with Junior, keep it simple! Get a seed, grow it, weigh what you grew, biggest melon wins...........

entrants must provide final wieght and OTT measurements, a description type picture, cross info, and any other pertanant grower info as a guide to future growers and to assist in genetic data collection for giant watermelon growers everywhere !......G

after growing a 116lber i've had requests for seeds and general info on what seed it was from and how and what it was pollinated with louis eck 5152 beam hill rd marion n.y. 14505 email lmeck@ancinc.net collects info on melons and hopes to be able to share this info in the future

Those are Blue Rind Watermelons. Just becase they don't have stripes does it make them a Cantaloupe?
