I just noticed this moprning some black spots on some of our leaves. They seemed to just appear in the last day or two. Can anyone give me an idea as to what the causes are? I will be spraying it tonight with a fungicide tonight. Any help is gratefully apreciated. Thanks.

Fungicide usually takes care of it on mine. Without seeing, my guess would be alternia(sp) leaf spot.

I was looking through the melon disease pictures on the internet & it looks alot like Alternaria Leaf Spot. It looks like it's treatable, so that a relief. I wonder if cutting the affected leaves off would help?
I really appreciate you help JEB. Good luck.

Phil, I believe alternaria leaf spot spreads by wind. If you cut those leaves off, do it when it not windy and be sure to clean up good. I just cut off some leaves on my zucchini that had pm, sprayed with actinovate, so far so good. I put the leaves in a plastic bag and took out with the trash. And spray for sure. It can be prevented and controlled. Good Luck!!

Thanks guys. We sprayed last night & will start removing the leaves tonight when the wind dies down. There looks to be only 20 +/- leaves that look affected so far & they are all in one area. We appreciate the help.
