Can anyone tell me from experience if a grafted plant takes a bit more time to get growing vines than a non-grafted. I've got both growing and the grafted melon seems to be growing well but not yet really starting to vine like the non-grafted. Thanks

Joseph, This is my first year with grafts. My "good" grafts have vined quicker than the traditional plants. Might be the rootstock, I really don't know. All I know is this is not a sprint, but a marathon, so don't be alarmed about them yet.

they seem to take a bit more time to get going. But once they start, they should at least keep pace. Last year mine grew faster then a traditional.

Mine seem to vine out quicker. Also the root system on the grafts is much more vigorous. Especially when setting out in cold soil. (Like this year)

Thanks for the input and advice. These grafted melons are new for me. Like I said all the grafted plants are growing stead but not quite as fast as the traditional. Not pullin them yet, lol. Thanks Again

Yes I think the Grafts like the cooler weather better.Mine were doing good in the cooler weather.But they dont like the humidity in a hut.

My grafts are outgrowing the regular plants 2 to 1 it seems so far.
