If I spring for the entry fee to get the Franklin County Watermelon Festival an officially GPC sanctioned weigh-off site, would anyone be interested in entering a melon?

Next year the Festival will be Aug 17th, Russleville Alabama is located in the NW corner of Alabama and the prizes are 300 200 100. The Festival is a huge event and great for families.

I would, if it was any weekend other than that weekend. Being, as that's my anniversary, the other half always has something else planned. My melons are usually done by then anyway.

That would be the one to go to for watermelons no questions, but cullman,al already has a couple sponsors lined up and have a weighoff in the works.

If franklin county is a gpc weighoff I believe it needs to be discussed if they can handle the weighing of the pumpkins to.(loading unloading, scales)

On a side not if franklin county is aug 17th
then cullman would be a good idea to be on
Sept 14th-4weeks later
or sept 21-5weeks later
and that will still leave 2 weeks until aldart,tn

Its too early. They have talked about a weighoff between hope and bear wallow in cullman. I would love an alabama weighoff, but aug 17th is too early for me

However at the same time if I don't have a pumpkin ready I would still most likely make it with a watermelon.

Holloway is correct.
Aug 17th is too early.

Just my opinion

Thanks for the feedback, I have received several e-mails as well. I cannot change the date of the weigh-off, its set in stone as the third Sat in AUG. As of now I plan on paying the entry fee for a watermelon weigh-off only, pending approval of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce.

Spence please keep us informed about the Cullman weigh-off, thats less than 20 miles from my house.

Even if we have a early spring, most are still growing in August. Will try to go anyway. Thanks for getting things started here in the hot south.
