My GW plants did really well until the fruit got about 35lbs and then the leaves all started dying off. Anyone have any input on what the (bleep) may have happened? I had plants in 2 different areas-far apart-different genetics and just can figure out what went wrong. I'd like to try again next season but want to avoid SWDS (sudden watermelon death syndrome) if I can!

Did you check for spider mites. They can be a devastating problem and are difficult to detect.

Most of us will have some ideas, but even more questions. With each answer comes more questions. Did you do a soil test? Over/under fertilize? Too much/little water? Recent spraying by you or neighbors? Pesticides mixed properly if used? Do you have pests in you area that we don't have to fight? Did you keep a log of what was done and when? Etc. Etc. We really do want to help, just need more info.
