In the few years that i have been growing, i have seen thick rinds and thin, seems to me the fertilizer has alot to do with that, even more than gentics.

I cant make a connection but seems like "heavy" melons with no hollow spot have thinner rinds than hollow melons. Since my calcium has been higher and watering more frequently my melons have been heavier to the chart but seems like the overall rind thickness avg is thinner. Not to say they are all the same just the average. Year before last the rinds were really thin and melons really heavy but we had sun nearly everyday and no rain, wondered if there was more sugar production with more sun exposure. I think right about gentics have had both types in the same controlled pollination seeds.
