I had a soil sample done on my cow & horse manure ph was 7, 7.5 p -1,700 -k 1,800 -ca 6,000 - mg 2,000 - pounds per acre - The manure compost is mixed with dirt and sand now, the mixing will cut the numbers down some but i am sure they still will be high. How would you fertilize along with the manure. Thanks Jerry

I wouldnt use fertilizer,Whats your #s on your soil??If you need calcium raised use aragomite,nitrogen cottonseed meal or a equivalent.A little sulfur to lower PH.Stay away from chemical fertz.Try to go organic as much as possilble.

I haven't done final test yet but i did have some of the soil mixed and checked it -ph 7.5 - p 959 - k 1,310 - ca- 3,980 - mg 1,195- pounds per acre - om 16 percent. The soil haveing the high ph iam tring to correct by adding some soil with a ph of 5.2 -p 77 k 207 -ca 215 -mg-66 - the other soil that is mixed with it ph 6- p 289 k - 374 - ca 1,334 - mg 149 pounds per acre.

You might want to get a second opinion,but I think your P & K are low.Calcium maybe high enough,OM is good,I guess it depends on how much soil your adding if it will greatly drop Ph.How big a patch you planting??

A few threads ago Mark said he thinks Chris Kent's PH is around 7.0. So you may not want to drop yours very much.

My PH started last year at 7.9 I added 80 lbs of sulfur in March & finished with a PH of 7.4.Even though I hit 260.5 does not mean a lower Ph might not be better.I added the rest of the 50lb in the fall like 20 lbs Only time will tell.I would like to be around 7.0. Like whats his name.Clark Griswald?Clark Kent??no no its Christopher Robbins? no no its Ask Janet she knows.lol

I think what it does mean Mark, is that a relatively high PH is capable of growing world class melons.
