how about a days from pollination to keep everyone on the same page. I picked some before 9/10/11 so the OTT's would be negative ! LOL

Dave, my 204 was growing all the way up until the time it was picked for Allardt and it was at 90 days. And for the last couple of weeks most of the vine was dead from fungal disease. There is no way I would have reached over 200 pounds if I had picked it sooner. One of the big "secrets" to growing a Carolina Cross to it's maximum potential is certainly to keep the plant and melon healthy and growing for as long as possible.I think with good luck and good growing practices we can probably keep these giants growing for well over 100 days. I know Bill Edwards has done just that.

Westham, you need to take 3 measurements (in inches). You take the circumference of the melon, a measurement from the ground and over the top to the ground on the other side and then you measure from the ground again and along the length of the melon to the ground on the other side. You add all the inches from these 3 measurements together and compare that to the OTT chart at giantwatermelongrowers.com for a projected weight in pounds.
