Since this will be my first year at harvesting the seeds from one of these giants...I'm just wondering how long I have to get them out.... and if there are any tricks or easier ways than others to get them out of the meat, pumpkins are pretty easy you just pick'm out, what do you guys do?? We push the flesh through 1/4 inch hardware cloth theres a pic on my Diary.I think there safe in melon for a month.As long as shes not rotting.I yanked mine out early,didnt want somebody stealing the melon with the seeds in them.

the melon will keep a good two weeks if kept cool.
I cut the melon into quarters then slice the meat about 1 to 1 1/2" then go through it with my hands, this is after taking the heart out and bagging it, then give it away, OH I keep some for myself - only time I eat watermelon !

I made a rectangler shaped box, like a sifter. I smash the pulp in the melon as much as possible, then put it in the sifter to get the remaining pulp out. Try to get the heart out as much as possible since no seeds there.
They will last 4+ weeks if healthy & cool. Actually easier to get seeds out when they are way past ripe & kinda mushy.
P.S. Don't try to get seeds if the melon is cold, freeze your hands off ! lol

BP, after seeds are removed from fruit...follow general seed drying process, like w/ AG seeds!!! Spread out, and allow to cure for a couple weeks w/ good airflow!!! Will be awaiting email telling me when you are sending seeds!!! LOL Peace, Wayne (Honorary Lunatic)!!!

Wow!! Thanks Guys....Melonheads Rock!!!!!!! And how do I keep it from getting cold up here!! I'm heading south on Saturday to get away from the cold....but now I know my seeds will be safe in the melon till I get back!! Thanks!!
