I counted the seeds in my biggin (Not EGGBERT!) 1596 Wow!New contest here! To enter just say 1 good thing about OUR new Club.Then 1 good thing about a member!I will give 5 seeds to a member in a random drawing of all entries.To keep it clean I will pick Captain Smack to draw name.Contest ends this Saturday at midnight.All are welcome to enter.I will go first, committee members are not allowed to win,but can enter if they like.Compliments can be repeated.

The GWG is my favorite giant watermelon growing club in the whole wide world. And Mark Clementz is the most honest and open to providing good information to other growers of any of the club's officers.Thank you Mark for all the helpful hints. We just have to look out for Captain Smack once in a while. lol I do love your sense of humor though. Too bad we get into more serious confrontations sometimes. But I do think it helps keep things interesting on here.

I think the GWG has created alot of new interest in watermelon growing! And Man as far as members... We have some members that have really excelled ! Todd went from 211 to 282 ! Dave cantrell went from 160's i think to 250! Mark went from the 190's to 260 ! Plus numerous other members that had new PB's ..It's been a great year !!!!

The new club...GWG...(117 1st year members)has so far (IMHO) been an incredible success!!! I hope that qualifies as "good"!!!(1) Captain Clapp is a quick draw "Artist"!!!!(2)Chris Kent grows "FATTASS" Melons!!! (3) MzJanet is someone everyone needs to meet!!! "GWG" I have been with a lot of clubs. This one is a new club, I feel is it will be around for a long time to come, I just can not wait for next year, to see where it will be, I feel no way but up. Also I can't wait to see all the new crosses. Thanks guys for what you have done !

I am new to all this stuff....guess you can call me "clueless in California!" I have been trying to get some giant watermelon seeds for next years crop. Silly me, I bought one starter plant at a local nursery and gew a whole whopping 3 pounder! All the fertilizer in the world wasn't helping that runty plant! If ye have any pity in ye then I'd love to get a few seeds to grow properly! I'd be willing to pay for them.

Thanks! I will go to the site and get my membership sent in. I saw that membership is open in November now. I am eager to see what we can grow next season. I have an assortment of manure makers (chicken, alpaca, horse and goat) for my compost.

From the viewpoint of being the President of another growing club its great too see when an organization is started and in the first year more than obtains its goals. I myself am a member of the newly formed club and its great to see all of the watermelon growing interest hit an all time high and get more people interested.

Our son grew a 126 pound melon this year and you would think he grew the world record melon, it was a source of great fun and excitment for him and us. My comments about a member are this - thanks to all the people who put this together who are founding members of this club, you did a great job and will continue to do so I'm sure. My son and I would love to grow some of those great seeds of yours as we are going from 3 plants to at least 6 next year.

Good Growing and enjoy the off season - don't wear out your computers with all that reasearch though.
