Aphids killed most of the leaves on my melon plants. If I get it under control should I give the plants some nitrogen to see if it will throw out some more leaves?

I think I would try some soluble balanced 20-20-20 such as miracle grow.

If that doesn't do the trick you might try spraying with some soluble kelp. Kelp can make just about anything grow I think.

If the vines are large there is a third option that works well for me. Trim your vines to a smaller size. This move nearly always works to stimulate renewed growth.

I think I will just weigh them at a weigh off next week and call it a year. Most of their growth is done anyways.
