Should I actually share that in public? Either way, I pollinated my 149.5 White with the 291 Kent, and the 291 Kent with the 35 Kent. I have very few males at this point, but I did find plenty of pollen on the ones I used.

Since it is going to be in the upper 90's today, I put a small bag of ice next to each and covered them with a piece of Remay blanket. My hopes is that this will simulate a cold front going through and will allow the flower to take up the pollen.

My plants are quite late this year, but they look really good. I have them all pinned down and well weeded and fertilized. Being late, I will not finish setting all my melons until mid July.

Sounds good, I'm still setting fruit on my late plants too. hope yours does well. What do the 291 females look like? Mine are very fat.

Remember that I am late because of a late wet spring. These are early females which are always quite anemic. The 291 female just looked normal, and not much more then 2.0cm. I usually ignore the first few females until the plant starts showing some good strength.

The main reason I am pollinating these is to try out the bag of ice method to determine if that helps guarantee the setting of pollen.

The ice will help some. Helped me last year. Was near triple digits. Hey Chris most of mine were fat, and had a hard time getting a good shape hand pollinating, but finally caught one right. Nice shape and long. The plant produced alot more females than the others so I had plenty to choose from.

Is the 204 the one that grew the 246 & 229 Bright. If so that is a good cross. Big fat hoss X mile long. I think the 246 or 229 X 113 Kent would be great too.

Both of the melons that I iced set their pollen, and that was during 95+ degree whether.

Now if only I could set some females that were really worth pollinating.
