hey i was wondering if anyone else is selfing the 291 kent this year the other plant i was gonna cross it with died and now that the 291 is growing i realize i dont have room for 2 plants ???? thanks pizza i could put another plant in but dont want to rip out my cantelope lol !!!

If you want pollen from a different melon you could grow a small plant (even in a pot) just for pollen.

The 291 Kent x self should be a very good pollination though.
Why not go with it ?

okay great ,thank you , was thinking of a pot but 291 selfed does sound good lol!! but if there were 20 people do it i would grow one in a potand make a cross just to mix it up a little !!!lol pizza

I think I will cross the 291 with the 285 Edwards.

I plan to cross the 291 with the 230 Kent, the reverse cross of the 291...Wonder would that be a double reverse cross?? Or would it be a double selfed?? :)
