Usually if you ask the grower the will give you the seeds for free. Be wary of people who want to charge you. It could be a scam.

There are no 239 leonards left for free, Darrell is all out! I have 4 or 5 in the freezer there not for sale,I may give 1 to GWG for next Auction!Good Luck finding 1 there hot right now!!

Not always true NP if I buy a seed at auction & somebody wants it Im not giving away a 30-50$ seed!they will pay me back.Also I trade kins for Melons,I buy kins at auction or from clubs to trade for Melons,I did several transactions over the winter,well over a dozen 239s were pryed from the fingers of somebody who wanted a kin seed real bad!!Just keeping it Real!!DAWG!!lol

Another option to keep in mind is to look for seeds from melons grown off of the 239 that are selfed or crossed with another melon you like the genetics of -- much easier (cheaper) to find seeds from a new generation that are not yet proven ! -- ie. Contact HHG after this year ends and see about getting some seeds from this years crop and you might be able to talk him out of some from whatever the 239s he is planting this year produce (unless of course he makes his goal of 312+ on it this year !!)

I am growing a 99 Gunter which is the 239 Leonard x self. I believe John still has seed he is willing to part with if you want to go that route.

Of course the Leonard cross I will be making will be a sibling cross. I believe it has a lot of potential though and you will be welcome to seeds when they become available.

I had one 239 Leonard seed I paid $50 for in a seed auction. It came up and was growing and cold weather, cold rains wind and a hail storm combined to cause it's untimely death. These seeds are almost impossible to get now and I think by next year there will be very few growers with any left to plant.

I ahve two of the 239's left( not for sale) and several of the 239 selfed( Gunter 99). Send a bubble for the 99's. They are some of my strongest plants right now.
