Can anyone tell me the cross of this one.

Mr bright had two large melons side by side,#249 and a #201 the 249 grew the 217 vaughn #249 was open but i think it crossed with the #201 41 inchs long.also the 249 grew Dan westfalls #224 The 249 and 201 were both from a cross of 2006 year #246 x 41 Bowwers. There are others that have there pb with this line. The 217 makes a good plant.

Thanks melonman, the 217 is a possible cross for my 255 Mitchell or 239 Zuener, looks like a good mix.

I grew the 217 Vaughn for a couple of years...the 217 was 45" long! My watermelons were also long...but not very big Girth wise, but grew a 180 lber for me last year. Jerry Vaughn had sent me the genetics on the 217 Vaughn and a picture...it only mentioned the mom which as wv melonman mentioned was a 249 Bright.

Thanks, Dave, for growing the seed. Mr Bright grew one in 09 43" long around 190 crossed 268x217 vaughn # 192 2010 ; not much girth but often in the 180 to 190 range. I think a good cross for the 217 would be a 264 kent or a mudd seed or a 232 carson the great grandad of the #268 bright, something with alot of girth.

I'm not growing the 217, although I have three of your 180 seeds stewing Dave. FYI six of your 194 seedlings are going to a friend today or tomorrow who grows melons.

Dave, I have your 120 and your 145 growing. Do either of those have any 125 Vaughn in them. I like the idea of the really long melons.

Hi Sparkey, yes you can get some 217 seeds. 895 wise ST WATERvalley Ms 38965 Jerry vaughn. I do think the 255 Mitchell would be a good cross with the 217 vaughn. Thanks Jerry
