there the reverse of each other!Reverse cross simply means the opposite of the one you have. You may be over thinking this pete.

I usually think of the reverse as the one that wasn't as big or famous. But the are the reverse of the other.

291 x 239 & 239 x 291 would be two brand new crosses!! 291 grew from 239 Leonard, 239 grew from 217 Pleasant!!!(almost has to be new, cause both (291 & 239) were grown in 2010! from different mothers!! Reverse cross of 291 would be 157bright (female) x 239 Leonard (male)! Of course Chris has opened up new possibilities w/ his 35 Kent!!! If he would have kept both the 157 & 239 growing, he could have made a reverse cross in the same year!!! Peace, Wayne Wow!!! what possibilities are out there in the melon world!!! ?? LOL, Serious... Peace, Wayne

Oops, wrong...Chris pollinated the 35 with 113 Kent, instead of 157 Bright,(pollinator for the 291), but you (hopefully) get the point...w/Chris's methods of a late (small) melon, a reverse cross could be done in the same year!!! For genetics!!! Peace, Wayne
