as a long time giant pmpkin grower , former gpc executive and current gpc hall of fame member i would like to congradulate you folks that are following thru on getting a giant watermelon club up and running.
i believe that just as some of us in certain areas of the country have an advantage weather wise growing giant pumpkin and green squash? that the warmer southern states will have a big advantage growing chanmpionship quality giant watermelon. best of luck with the club.

Good observations pap. There is big opportunity here for increasing interest in the hobby. And we are bound to be breaking a lot of records in the coming years. I am proud to be part of all this. It's a great hobby and tremendous fun at times.

pap, you should try growing a watermelon. Some of us Southern boys down here are growing some pretty fair pumpkins. We have one watermelon grower (Spudley) out of Alaska.

IMHO...lope growers are comin on at just the right time!!! This idea started by the GWG management team, will certainly help the lope growers to learn how it is done...correctly!!! Hopefully, in the future...the GWG will collect lopes into their venture, or enough is learned to start another offshoot group...in cooperation w/the GPC, of course!! Peace, Wayne
