i was wondering what your soil was like. Do you put a lot of compost or any or amendments?. Have a new patch for next year, wanting to start off on the right foot.
Thank you Danny Reeb

Where i plant its a clay soil that is now a nice loam due to compost, manure additions. I add lime & gypsom to bring the PH to 6.8 ish. Sand helps if your drainage is bad.

Yes I am planning on attending. Maybe us melon heads could stay at the same hotel and talk/visit a little more after the seminar?? I plan on staying the night if others stick around too.

The KGPG are looking into a motel we can recommend for everyone to stay. Also will try and get discounts for growers planning to attend the melon / pumpkin seminar. More detail to come later.

Thanks Chris. The new patch may not have to much compost in it. Why do you recommend not to much compost? I will have to do a soil sample before i can adjust the ph. I do always add gypsom to loosen the soil up, plus for the calcium.
i hope to get to the meeting in Ky. I hope i have a chance to talk to you. So many questions. lol

Hey Chris
Congrats again on an awesome season.
Has Kirk Chenier (GVGO Pres) contacted you about an article for the GVGO's newsletter? If not, would you be interested in putting one together for us, along with a picture or two? I doubt we'll be able to attend the KY Seminar to learn your secrets. LOL. Our newsletter will be coming out in a couple weeks, but if that's too soon, our next one is in Feb. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your consideration
Take care, Jane & Phil
