They were still growing about 1 lb per day, but considering their age, i didn't see them making any records. LOL I guess thats why we weigh them !

Hey Chris,I called WBIR Knoxville television station & The Knoxville News Sentinel newspaper & told them about your melons.I provided them your home phone number so they may be contacting you to do a story. It's not every day that someone sets a new state record. I know how proud you must be.

Well had i known what it weighed, i would have left it growing. The only problem was that the next weighoff was 10 days away. Believe me, I WONT pick my big one till it stops growing !!!!

Really Chris, don't you think a world class watermelon grower like yourself should have the word "melon" or "watermelon" in his handle instead of the word "pumpkin"? Perhaps you could create another identity on this site and still sign in as smoky mtn pumpkin when you are on one of the pumpkin forums. Or is that silly and just too confusing? Anyway, you rule.Looks like you are going to easily win 1st place in everything you enter this year.

Thanks guys, but i'm not a limelight kinda guy. I like being a guy with a backyard garden who grows big stuff. You all should have seen the drug copter hovering about 100 feet above my garden this morning. I was charging the camara batteries from the fair trip, by the time i ran in to get them & the camara, they had left. Would have been a great picture !

Pumpkin in his name may still be correct. Who knows what's hiding in those hills?
