What kind of growth should I expect on these things. Last 7 days was 10 pounds growth, estimating about 120 pounds. No idea how old it is, I suspect they were a few weeks late setting.
It must have been a good year here for melons, my best ever was 115.5 pounds
I planted 5 plants out in the field, and they have only gotten the water that mother nature gave them. all 5 of the plants have one 100+ pounds.
I know these are not big by competitive standards, but for not taking care of them, and controlling the weeds with chemicals, I am pretty excited.
Thanks for the ideas

Congratulations on 5 very nice melons Tom. Those on here who have carefully kept up with pollination to end of growth time will tell you Carolina Cross melons are capable of growing for up to about 90 days.

Come on Tom. I know what you are capable of for growing pumpkins. I think it's time you put all your skills towards giant watermelons and blow us neophytes out of the water.

In the few years that I've grown them, my end growth dates have been all over the place however, when they approach the 1 pound per day, it's almost over for me.
