has any one seen any differeces in brown seed melons vs. white? heavier, shorter, longer, or anything ? are most of the melons over 200# white or brown ? with different color seed they can't be geneticly the same melon. any ideas?

Some growers perfer one over the other, there was a discussion about that here this winter/spring i believe. I don't think it makes a difference.

I'm guessing since carolina cross is a hybrid that would explain the different seed color.

Just like pumpkin have tan seeds & white seeds. Melons have white, brown tiped, brown & red seeds. The are still all CC melons as far as i know. The 1st ones back in the 70's had black seeds, see brights web site.

My 207 from 2009 came from white seed & produced white seed. The plant I grew from one of these this year was self pollinated & produced brown seed. I thought that was a bit odd.
