Kent, Got one I want to take to Allardt, but the vine is beginning to turn brown. My friend has a big walk- in cooler. What is the optimum refrigerated temp and how long is it OK to refrigerate. Its not huge but it measures good and is twice the size of the twice the size of the 100 pounders I've pulled, so I'm just hoping for 160 or so. Maybe I could just take it to Bear Wallow... Is that the Sept. 19th?

I believe 45-55 would be good, Even warmer would be ok as long as the fruit is healthy.

I cut open the 109 lb melon i cut from the 157 bright on july 22. Its been sitting outside since then, 38 days in the heat. Sun shines on it for about 3 hours mid morning. Shade after that, but we have been above 90 most days. Now the melon was young,33 days old when picked. I'll post pictures, but it was perfect inside, actually quite good ! Funny thing is the skin was very rough from the sun but was smooth when pick. It did this while sitting there off the vine !
