Is anyone else that's using subsurface drip irrigation systems adding nitrogen this time of the season? I've been adding 6 oz. of a product called Gradual N every 10 days through the lines to 8 plants. So far the results are encouraging. Maintaining 3 to 3.5 lbs/day gains after the 120 lb mark. I'm told if you add too much N during fruit growth your melons will be flat topped, or rinds will split. Has this been anyone elses experience?

reb i would personaly back off on the nitrogen at this point . you should just be able to look at your plant and see if it needs nitrogen . also take in to consideration how many more days do you have to grow until your melons are ripe.
