Last year I put up mini hoops with pieces of tarps, does anyone use only cloth, sheets, etc on the melon itself similar to some pumpkin growers?

I use gunny sacks pinned on 9 gauge metal hoops, using the same hoops that held the fabric blanket in the spring. I don't like it to touch the actual fruit, since it has a chance of not drying out properly and potentially causing rot.
We do this to keep the outer skin pliable, since I feel it gives better growth.

Tarps for me. i tried a sheet on the fruit. Bad idea. MMM is right ! Almost rotted my 259 before it became my 259 !

I go with tarps just slant them in the direction you want water to run off.
