Dennis I have started several of the mtn Hoosiers you sent for my other patch of eatin melons. How large are the plants compared to carolinas. Do you know about what the square footage is? Also How many days from fruit set to harvest am I looking at?

Please let me know too, I got some MH and started a few for 'eaters'... they certainly started well.

I have been wondering about something similar for quite a while: along with my CC watermelons I also started some regular eating melons like Tom Watson, Moon and Stars, Georgia Rattlesnake, Blacktail Mountain, and a couple yellow meated ones. How much space do these require per plant?

I know it is an early melon. They beat the Carolina Cross by several weeks. One seed company said 85 from germination.I will just say once again they are early, large, productive & delicious. As for plant size my 2 Mountain Hoosiers last year were just about the same size as my Carolina Cross plants.

Okay, so how much space should I give a Mountain Hoosier to make it happy and get lots of eaters?

I think about 400' sq. would be sufficient.
