Well here we go again. I really think some one will get there this year. We have more growers with growers doing more crosses instead of selfs or opens. Last year was terrible in the Midwest with cold temps. Maybe this year will be normal and we will see some monsters. Good Luck all you melon growers!

300 pounds makes me a little dizzy. I am hoping for 270 or so :-).Anything is possible though & I wish everyone the best of luck.

I believe that the best thing that we can do to get to 300 is to increase the number of growers, and I know we have all been trying very hard to do just that.

I have sent alot of seeds out too, so hopefully they will produce some good ones too.

I'm with Marty, The key is in the crosses & the ways we grow them. The world record falls this year. Its been close several times.

I was lucky enough to see the NC melon, one pound off
the world record. It was awesome and something I will never forget. Henry Pleasant was the grower.

I'm hoping a little 12-year-old gal in West Ky hits about 292.7. If sitting out there on her knees talking to 6" plants has anything to do with it, she's on her way! lol
