I took 30 seeds from 3 melons each. Soaked all seeds in 90 degree water for 15 min. Prepared wet paper towels by stacking all together, wetting, squeezing out excess then put in zip-lok bags. I put 10 seeds from each melon in seperate bags. 1 bag each melons seeds was flattened eliminating most air and put in incubator at 99 deg. 1 bag each had enough air to make bag stand up approx 5/8 in. and went in incubator @ 99. Remaining 3 bags were held @ 92 deg flattened on top of incubator. After 48 hrs number of seeds sprouted @ 99 flat was 8,7,6. @99 deg tented was 7,9,9. @92 flat was 6,4,3. After 24 more hrs 2 more popped @99 flat and 2@92 flat. No more popped within next 48 hrs.

Many of the sprouted seed @ 48 hrs had their roots entangled AND through the paper towel. Many had a tap approx 1 in long @ 48 hrs.

Thanks for the info, sounds like that is the way to go. Now if I can only get the darn eggs out by March I should be in buisness!
Also thanks again Brotherdave for the emails on the chicks, I should have my results in 12-13 days.

So the conclusion would be....99 degrees, some air in the bag, check each day, max germination by day 4 right ?
Did any sprout in 24 hrs ?
Thanks for the work !

I didn't check them until 48 hrs. I'll start another batch this evening and start checking @ 24 hrs and then every 12 hrs. Nothing popped for me after day 3 in this test. This time I'll start all @ 99 deg. I want to tent onne batch with the seeds lying on top of the towel instead of between 2 layers which is the way I did it the last time. If anyone has other ideas post them. I have plenty of seeds to play with.
