Dave I was expecting to see a 10 cm pollination size on that 217 LOL. Was the 45"er? Do you think it has potential to produce some long fruit? Congrats on the win.

We had a rough year up here...in my 4 years of growing...first year 167, 2nd 195, 3rd year 180 and this year 146.5 plus Nekoosa on Sat.
As to the 217 Vaughn...it was very long for 146 lbs and did have 3.5 cm at pollination....given a warmer July...it could have gotten big and with the compost tea and such..I'm thinking I could have gotten the needed girth.
My 255 Mitchell should be the biggest watermelon for me this year...with the 225 White (MMM's) also close...Saturday will help figure it all out.
I like the 255 Mitchell a lot and will grow it also again.

Good luck with the 255 saturday. The 255 was my best seed too. I planted two and both are bigger than any of my others. I will see saturday how they do. Sounds like your doing great for a tough year. It has been unseasonablly mild and wet down here, I know it had to be rough up there. Good Luck
