Our Melon is now in a big fridge awaiting the State Fair. My ? is does anyone know how long it will last, or about how long est., once it is taken out of the fridge.

Some can last along time. It is good you have it in a cooler. I have noticed that they seem to rot on the bottom first so I ussually tilt them up so the bottom is not flat on the floor. Let air pass under it to keep the bottom dry. How far away is the fair? should be OK in cooler

I also recommend keeping the stem ends went. I wrap them in wet paper towels and bag them with rubber bands holding the bags in place. I most I have had one in the fridge was 1 week, but it showed almost no weight loss and no damage. I suspect that 3 to 4 weeks would easily be possible.

Thanks for your responses. The melon is on a pallett so air will get under it. The fair is still 30 days away. I guess this will be a learning experience to see just how long they will last in the fridge and when we take it out. :)
