Ok I have a 251 Mudd and a 267 Edwards melon in my 30 x 96 cold frame with roll up sides. Last year I tried to set one on a plant but they all were deformed until the hoop was destroyed by wind then they put on some nice melons. This years Plants look great but once again my first on on the 267 is deformed but I only had one male. The next few on the 251 are deformed before they ever open but I see one that will be nice in a week or 2. The 267 looks to have a couple nice ones coming up in a week also. Any ideas on getting them set that they will keep there shape? Thanks

Well maybe we have something now. The 267 has 4 set on crossed with the 251 Mudd. One is bigger than a softball but deformed badly so it must go if one of the other 3 take off. Another one is slightly deformed and the other 2 look great so far but still small but look shiny so far. The 251 plant has only put out 3 females so far and have not been able to get one set. Hopefully it will put on some females soon before it runs out of room. I have let them grow out some to get more chances of females. In a week if the 267 females take off to the size of footballs I will trim them back. Man that was work and I hope they hold on or I will not have one for the fair.If they do make it this will be fun.
