Can anyone recommend a decent thermostat for soil cables? I used 60 foot roof cables this year without a thermostat and the soil was way too hot. Looking for a recommendation to use for next year. Thanks

I have used the jumpstart thermostat for several years with heating cables from 80-120 ft.

I have found that the best way to maintain a nice 70 degree environment in the soil is to go to the local drugstore and buy a small bottle of mineral oil or glycerin. Stick the temperature probe into the bottle (drill a hole) resting in the liquid. Bury the entire bottle in the soil. This provides a nice indicator of overall soil temperature and prevents the probe from reporting temperatures in the immediate area of the probe which can vary based on moisture and distance to a heating cable.

I've used the Inkbird 308 and Bn-Link heat mat thermostat.
Make sure to check the amperage of your heat cable because both types of thermostats have there own amperage limits. You may only be able to run one set of cables per thermostat.

Inkbird all the way, mine get abused, watered all season and still work. They have a ton of great wifi and non wifi products and sensors
