Very sadly, the Nut Tree shopping mall changed owners. The new owners notified the California Pumpkin Growers Club on February 2 that they will no longer sponsor the Nut Tree weighoff, citing a loss of staff and “the unwillingness of our 164 stores to financially support the event”. We are quite devastated as the club put its all into making it a great weighoff. But there’s a bright side. The Club is negotiating with a large commercial pumpkin farm and a casino for a new location and sponsorship. Wish us luck and stay tuned!

It would not surprise me that the new owner of the Nut Tree Mall raised rents immediately after purchase and then the tenants of the mall couldn't afford to support the weighoff. Corporate Greed

Wile, are you a tenant at the Nut Tree? That’s EXACTLY what happened. New owners decided rents were too low so raised them immediately causing several vacancies and total lack of support among the stores. You are omniscient!

Brian, I am not a tenant at Nut Tree. I've seen malls change ownership where I live and see tenants leave because of the rent got raised
