I'm pleased to announce that the club has inducted Phil and Jane Hunt into our Hall of Fame at the 2011 Awards ceremony during our Seminar this past weekend.

The growing team of Jane and Phil are well known in growing circles and have set many records along the way. Jane has held the Canadian watermelon record, Phil and Jane set the Canadian record only a few years back with their super heavy to the chart monster at Port Elgin. The much sought after 7.33 lb Hunt tomato needs no explanation and many many more growing achievments along the way and weigh off titles to adorn their walls at home.

I think their most proud achievment though is taking a club from its infancy along with other hard working volunteers just several years ago with a founding membership of under 20 members to what is now one of the best clubs in all the world which keeps a membership of approx. 270 members consistently. They are always helping new growers get involved in the sport/hobby and providing advice to mentor growers into becoming successful champions. They are still actively involved in club business and Janes help in keeping the financial side of the club in check has the club is great financial shape heading into the future.

The Hunts work very hard at growing and that is why they have achieved the goals and awards in the past and I'm sure for many years to come it will continue. They are selfless in providing the club with donations of seeds we just need to get their pumpkins to pop out a larger number of them though!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Jane & I had no idea that we were being considered for the HoF award & were shocked when they announced it at the seminar. We are honored to be included with such great people as Al Eaton, Bill Greer, George Lloyd & the many others inducted into the GVGO HoF over the years.
