Hi guys looking for a bit o help.....Ive basically had a hellish year at work and really was debating weather or not to grow this year as every year I get KILLED with SVB..The wife wants to put in a real veg garden and well with all the chemicals over the years I dont think its wise,,Any way I had 3 seeds left over from last year and when I went to get them they are no longer there...(was it her way of saying VEGGIES),,lololol..Anyway I know its late but I think I will give it another shot .Anyone have a seed or two to spare..Im not looking for a 1000lber just something I can grow to forget about work and life that will give me some excitement and escape...Alsoo very interested in what my Canadian pals are doing with the SVB problem...Last year was the worst I must have killed 9-10 moths ..It gets so frustrating....Any locals who have extra seeds let me know...willing to pay as I would buy from store but those seeds are so so....eng6900@yahoo.com
thanks So Much

Hi Eng
Send me your address & I'll make sure you get some good free seeds ASAP. My email address is gvgo@sympatico.ca We're in the Lindsay Area & don't worry about SVB, but growers to our south get them. Some use merit & other systematic pesticides, but they still do daily inspections for the tell tale signs of them. Maybe one of the other growers who deal with them will chime in here? Also do a search on this site for more SVB info. There's been plenty written about them over the years. Do you live within a 5-miles of a pumpkin farm? That might be why you see more SVB than most. Also check out one of Canada's premier pumpkin clubs at www.gvgo.ca Take care & good luck.

There are quite a few pumpkin farms in the Hamilton area. I'm not sure where you live in Hamilton but there are a number in Ancaster including Bennett's Apple Farm (Garners Rd/Hwy#53) and Lindsays. You might want to contact Rich Bennett, he's grown AGs in the past, and still grows all kinds of other Halloween pumpkins.

There is a really good AG grower in Stoney Creek as well. Don't have his address but his name is Eric Sundin. His wife grows as well as far as I know. He's been growing since at least 2000.

Seeds will go out this morning. You should have them in a couple days. I sent a GVGO Membership application as well. Brad's right. He knows that area quite well. Eric Sundin might be able to help you out with some SVB info. Give him a call, he should be in the book. Email me if you need any help.

I'm down the road in St Catharines. I deal with svb's everyyear and caught 10 moths last year. Still get holes but they die. I have talstar and warrior t and admire. Last year was not as careful as I should be. Start spraying around June 15 th till Aug 15. You have good control but does not stop them all. I'm going with a fogger this year for better coverage and hope for better results. I could give you some talstar if you like to drive down. Are you above the escarpment or below. Seems like people above don't get the svb and yes there are pumpkin farms everywhere in the region. Hope it helps, heres my number if you want to call 905-704-0544
