Cover them up again this evening. The Weather Network, is calling for patchy frost in southern Ontario. If the clouds go away it will be a chilly night.

Russ, I don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of all the frost we're getting. Hope your plants are surviving the cold alright. Take care everyone and keep them warm.

Phil, Your telling me, My hoop house has been covered with a blanket and tarp with heaters on low from 7pm-8am ( timer) for the past week, Plants are doing well should be vineing shortly, Plants are WAAAY ahead of last year, bascially the same treatment given so eaither its the helpers to the soil I added in the fall, good seeds or both.

It's a really good idea to cover the green-houses with blankets at night. I have been using a remote thermometer inside one of my green-houses this year. Last night I got home from work just after 11:00 PM and saw that the temperature inside the green-house was 56. I put on a blanket on top of it and then checked the temperature at 12:00 and it was up to 63. It must be the ambient heat coming out of the soil that warmed things up. Interesting. I was expecting that it would just slow the amount of heat loss.

Cowpie, Yup agree thats why I cover the hoop house up with an old blanket then place a tarp over top, both to keep the blanket dry if it rains and also it seems to keep it just a tad warmer inside as well
