Bundle the plants up good tonight. It's suppose to get pretty cold here in Ontario. I lost 2 cabbage plants last night and the 3rd isn't looking to good. On a good note my pumpkin plants were fine, but I had them bundled up with a heat light in the greenhouse.

I had some damage to at least one plant last night too. I have many back-ups waiting to go just in case.

No frost last night but very chilly. Thursday's low was around 30*F while last night it dropped to about 38*f. Even more disturbing is the two week long term forecast is for continuing below average temperatures.

New record low for the date last night (-2C / 28F). I have 4 pumpkins out in hoop houses, two with heat bulbs and two with 100W trouble lights. There was white frost on the strawberries 5 ft from the pumpkins. Temp in the hoop house with trouble light was 12C, very nice, no dammage. Its suposed to warm up tonight. I hope to plant 3 more pumpkins and my melons this weekend.

We may be out of the woods now... A warm front is approaching. Each day is a bit closer to the average last frost day for Southern Ontario of May 24th. I only lost a back-up plant in one of my non-heated hoop houses. It was the only hoop house that did not have a water barrel placed inside it. 205 liter water storage, heat sinks seamed to work very well in moderating the temperatures just enough for the plants to survive.

I guess it's a good thing that my patch prep is behind schedule or I probably would have lost out too.

Ive been really lucky all my plants continue to grow well as temps have dropped to 0c - 32 F a few times already since plants have been outside and one night was -1 OUCH!!
worst damage recieved is plants are starting to turn a pale green due to both lower then normal temps and allot of rain we have recieved this week is suppose to warm up and into the 20's by the weekend :-)
