On the first day of spring, I see a robin pulling a worm from my lawn!!!! So I went out to the patch and sank a shovel deeply into the soil. The Ontario thaw has started here in the southern end. My tulips are also poking through the soil.
Shouldn't be too long now guys.

Snow is almost gone here too. It was a beautiful warm day. You cant rush things though, it will be planting time soon enough!

Just when my patch was almost entirely clear of snow, it got a bit of a dusting today. Most of the ground around it is still covered. So, I guess my OM must be in pretty good shape.
Got my hands on a buch of 2 litre ice cream containers and lids for seedlings. Now I just need about a dozen other things to grow my monster.

Finally a warm spell plows into Southern Ontario. Snow is almost gone by Sunday evening. I'm starting to work in a few leaves for some compost under the warmth of the hoop house.

Starting to see dirt now. A couple more warm days and it will be bare.

We've had our usual wet weather but the snow stays up in the mountains for the most part and seldom touches down to my patch elevation. Dafodills and flowering trees are almost all done and the tulips are now opening up. I've done all I can to the patch and am just waiting to put up the hoophouse and get seedlings started.
Hope all the provinces have exceptional weather this year and 2005 brings everone a personal best!!

We had a beautiful Easter weekend in the Annapolis Valley with sun and warm temps. I took the opportunity to till up the patch and incorporate all of last fall's additives a bit more.
Today we are getting significant rainfall. Better than snow for sure!
