Dear felow European pumpkin growers!

How is life? How are your pumkin advances so far?

Here in the Netherlands, temeratures have been with some cold extremes in May and June.

Since very recent a long wished and cherished heathwave might be welcomed and it is so needed at the coastal island overhere.

Lets hope for more and the best possible conditions!

How is the condition in your region?

Hello Theo, after nice April and cold and wet May and first half of June finally summer has arrived in southern Germany. Plants like that for regeneration lol !

Warm weather started here on the mainland this week Theo. Coldest May and first have of June since about 1900. Heat wave expected next week. Corn, beetroots, carrots, parsnips, marrows and potatoes all ahead of last year. Squash about a week behind. No pumpkins here this year.

Here in UK is very dry, few of the growers having storms I believe..But down south has been very dry..Rain is well below what we should have for the whole of this year to date..temps currently 23-30'C daytime and 12-17'C nights..so real good growing weather, had to shade the plants for last 3 weeks due to the plants wilting in the heat..

Same here Stephen, I had to shade the plants too.
Totday we got a very bit of rain, but now full sunshine again.
Thanks to the seashores here no temps above 30°c.

No pumpkin this year, Brad??? Hmmm, you don't give up than?

No, Theo. I think I would like to grow a squash bigger than the biggest Dutch pumpkin this year....lol

Tomorrow's forecast 35°C! Nice for the corn, bad for the squash and other giant veg inside...

Not only inside Brad ! Never had so much burnt leaves as now. And pollinations this week will be another problem.

Here also burt leaves.... All umbrellas and whatever been found put up against the sun, here only a short moment above 30°c, but it is extreme.
Cooling comes up slowly today; Jos, you must have had about 37°c, how are yours surviving???

Hit 34°C here, inside about 45°C. No sagging, no burnt leaves. Shade cloth, bedsheets, umbrellas. Had the whole plant covered. My 1236* was not covered except for part of it with shade cloth. Also no damage.

It's Lashing rain the last few days with pretty dim light conditions, it's definitely affected growth.

same down here sunshine and showers tops 21@c at mo but drying out as of today back to 25@c and poss more and dry as of Tuesday for us down south....blown a hooly last night..lost 2 leaves thats it so am happy with that!!
