Hard to believe the early fruit growth rate. Watched Steel (sorry seems impersonal but don`t know your first name) Cull a 7kg fruit diary entry 10th July and wished I was somewhere near on weight as I am always chasing the pack from behind. Two days later I am culling one of the same weight, have a pumpkin that`s bigger, two summers days in a pumpkins life is a long time. Happy growing John

John. Looks like you are having fun over there in Wales. Thinking about it, i wonder what the heaviest Pumpkin is to have even been grown inside the Welsh Borders.
Regards & Enjoy the ride. Mike

Today at day 18 917ghaye 15 kg, slow start, less than 1 kg per day: less than expected. Big plant, big leaves, (not yet big) green pumpkin, or what it is, squash? May be better later, if it keeps growing long, it might be what I wanted as result. Two other pumpkins ar3 not bad, but have no space now.... No change possible, what happens, it might bring. Good luck to you all! Regards, Theo.

That's not good to hear Theo. At day 18 they should be doing between 8-10 kg per day. If you want to go for a 1000 lbs then you need these increases per day (according to Gustavsson's growth chart from his 1061). Of course different pumpkins grow at different speeds.
Day 9-10 + 1 kg Day 10-11 + 2 kg Day 11-12 + 3 kg Day 12-13 + 4 kg Day 13-14 + 5 kg Day 14-15 + 6 kg Day 15-16 + 7 kg Day 16-17 + 8 kg Day 17-18 + 9 kg Day 18-19 + 10 kg Day 19-20 + 11 kg
After this you are going to need growth over 11 kg per day.
My day 11 is 11.5 kg which is 3 kg extra since day 10, so still on schedule as long as it lasts...

Yes, Brad, it should be like that, but it is not. Even last years small plants were better growing.

Brad, the plant is aborting this 19 day old fruit at this size of 15 kg!!!! Arrrrggggg..... Now I should start with new female flowers, bye bye (Dutch) championship. :(:(:(
One competitor less for you. ;)
Thank god I saved some other small plants in the corners for some pumpkins, some of those are nice growing now.
So the local contest would not be too difficult...still, I hope. :)
