Rumour has it, it was weighed as a pumpkin in Duisburg and is not 100% SQUASH.

wooh! Good news to hear! I always thought that The Netherlands had not a very good climate for growing pumpkins but now it is proven that a big squash can be growen here.

Please take a look at the top right picture, and tell me if this is a pumpkin or a squash. http://www.museumdepeel.nl/pompoen.html

It looks very much like a salmon coloured Pumpkin but with the aged netting that appears on a lot of Pumpkins. Difficult to tell from the Picture but one thing for sure it is not a True Green Squash by a long way.

It was grown from a seed of my last years 917 pumpkin.Weighed 363kg or 800lbs in Duisburg were it was classified as a pumpkin according to the wpc rules. In Kasterlee it weighed 355.5kg. Greetings Jos. PS:I still have a couple of hundred of those seeds, email me when interested.

Per the Asten weighoff committee, it is a squash. My hat goes off to Harrie Poels. Job well done.
I do not think that it is a true green squash though.

I like "groene pompoenen". Sounds funny somehow.

If that pumpkin is a squash then so is the 1367 Rose, lol. The 796 Poels isnt even close to being a 100% true greenie, although it is a nice pumpkin with nice shape.
