First of all congrats to all the growers having the real big ones in Europe this year! It´s amazing to see so many good numbers even in areas not having any benefits from the weather or our climate in general this season. If someone is not sure about where to go on Oct. 2nd or just because Ludwigsburg or any other weigh-off is a long way, you´re invited to join the weigh-off at Burg Konradsheim near Cologne, Germany.
It´s family fun, good press coverage, you can win even if no big money is offered, just a nice weekend (the festival is Oct. 2nd and 3rd). The winning pumpkins will be displayed, but no taking away or selling seeds here. Just asking for a few seeds to spread them among other growers for the next season, in the true spirit of our hobby.
We have certified scales (new official calibration today till 2007). Everyone, winning or not, will have an official result for the pumpkin. There´s also the "smallest pumpkin competition" for those who like and grow the real little ones, which is always much fun especially for the children. Get a first impression here from last year: http://www.bigpumpkins.de

I´m working to have a point of information there about anything concerning our big pumpkins. Just finishing an illustrated How-To for beginners. Everyone who can help with photos, seeds and infos is welcome!
Thanks everyone, good luck this last week and hope to hear from you, Ingo

Ingo, I am glad to see that you have put so much effort into making the Burg Kondradsheim weigh off a success and the effort you have put into your How To for Beginners. If I can help in any way, seeds, photos, whatever please let me know.
I must tell you that in july of this year I was strongly considering coming to that weigh off because the money means nothing to me, just the fun and family atmosphere is what is important to me. However, since then I have met via this web site many nice European growers that I am looking forward to meet in Ludwigsburg this year. I am still keeping Burg Kondradsheim as a place to go to next year. It would be fun to see you and Christina again.
best wishes and best of luck at your weigh off this year.
