Well, this is not a very serious post but ...
some of us use meters and kilos, some of us prefer inches and pounds.
But for the pictures...
We used :
- Limondade tins (but I have to notice that Coca Vanilla is longer than the other
- Limonade bottle
- digital camera
- cellular telephone
- books
- automatic meters.

Couldn't we use a classic standart mesure like the Coca Cola classic tin :-).

The weather is awfull here, I suppose that you will understand me :-)

I understand you Sophie. It`s a pain watching the rain fall and "nothing we can do" for our plants. I started using my cell phone for comparison when I saw it`s one of the only things I almost always have with me.

I recognized your coke-cans in belgium look quite different than ours here or the "classic".

Despite all humor this could be a good topic to discuss. Two weeks ago I used an empty cigarette pack, which my brother had "left" in the garden, for size comparison but felt guilty when I finally saw the pic in my diary for I didn`t intend to "advertise" this product. Since then I have been more careful what to use. I suggest we all ask Owen to provide us with some Wilhelm Busch literature ;-) I don`t like the thought how small my pumpkins would appear suddenly ;-)

I really have been thinking what could be used without advertising for cigarettes, beer or coke. Then I found my old cell phone, nobody would want, could do.

I'm agree with you sophie, for comparison it's better to use the same thing, I tried bottle of wine, can of coke and my daugther (she's always around the pumpkin).
the best is probably can of coke, we can found it everywere, but it's a bit small when pumpkin get bigger (over 150lbs).
what we use?

Sophie and Growers,
I would not like to make advertising for Coke or cigarettes which I would not like to enjoy. A good beer would be better. :)
A piece of wood could be in standard size but still better. This is neutral and can easily be obtained by every cultivator.
Only which tree species shall it be, must everyone reach an agreement. ;-)

I dont care what someone used to comparish (spectakle case or cellphone or a cola can). Often a look at the leaves is enough to imagin the size of the pumpkin.
And I can see no different in the use of a tape in centimeter or a tape in inch.
As guests on a us-resident-site we should use the us-norm, even if Steve think our system of measurements is the better one.;-)

Think I if you measure in inches work, the weights are then correct?

I take measurements with an inch tape and my specifications in my diary are in inch and lbs. The est.weight is based on the OTT-table
