I have never seen a PH of 4.4...Are you sure this is correct. This is very acidic. I don't think anything could grow here. Tomato Juice has a PH of 4.1

Only time I have ever seen soil PH this low was for Blueberries. It is going to take 500 lbs to just raise your PH to 6.0.

I'd be curious to know what this plot of ground was used for previously. Base saturation rates are also incredibly low.

This area was previously covered with crabgrass and had patches of bare soil. It is on a downward slope.

Jimmy I had a patch start out with a pH of 5.2 (which I thought was very low) 4.4 is crazy low. If you plan to use this patch this summer, you will need fast acting hydrated lime to get the ph up in time for the growing season. I wouldn't even worry about your micronutrients until your pH goes up. (When a pH is very low, nutrients get locked up in the soil and are unavailable to the plants. Some nutrients can also be too available and cause toxicity under low pH conditions.) (like aluminum)

Wow, that's rough. I started at 5.2 pH this year and like moon said, I thought that was low.
