If so by how much? a whole point? Will it last like using sulfur?

Yes, But the only way to know for sure is to test it. I would add a couple inches of shredded leaves and maybe some peat moss also. It takes about 200lbs per 100sq. feet. Apply 2xs a yr depending on soil type. Oak leaves and pine needles are more acidic than most leaves and will require less of them. You can find pH test kits and test yourself periodically. Sulfur may last longer but your going to end up with better soil from leaves.

Food for thought: it is biologial activity that creates the acidification in the soil from the breakdown of OM, how active is your soil biology in the winter? sulfur is also a biological induced reaction. what ever you use get it in early in the fall to get the best time frame for reaction. there are formulas to estimate the amount of sulfur needed to lower PH but not sure you can estimate change from leaf breakdown.
