You won't go wrong with (soft) rock phosphate as well. In general, phosphate sources are not ideally "mobile" in your soils. Do not scatter them on the surface, and then walk away. Get them worked into some depth, in the presence of active biology and hopefully a cooperative pH.

The benefits are not delivered quickly. Amend with your phosphates now so they will be "ready to go" by spring of next year.
