Just got my soil report back. Any advice on next steps for the patch would be greatly appreciated. My patch is 1,200 sq feet, clay loam soil, with the typical Colorado high ph. I put down 30 pounds of sulfur in the fall and the ph has dropped down from 8.1 to 7.8. This is a brand new patch.

OM 5.4%
Phosphorous 201 ppm
Potassium 3994 ppm
Magnesium 527 ppm
Calcium 2377 ppm
Sodium 937 ppm
pH 7.8
Buffer index 7.4
CEC 30.5
Nitrogen 29 ppm
Sulfur 636 ppm

Potassium is throug the roof Jamie!
Mine is 1774 and Craig told me it was "very high" for growing AG's. Said it causes premature ripening and leads to splits. Said for every 15ft Dia circle put a couple of buckets full of sand down or lots of orgnaice matter that is very well composted. Peatmoss is a good choice but exspensive as heck. Cow manure is good for us around here, probably 6-8 yards for the 1200sq/ft is good.

That CEC seems "squirly " too, incredibly high which is good, but yikes thats really high.

Could dobule your calcium up with 50lbs of Gypsum.

Magnesum looks Ok, just about right

Phosphours looks Ok as well.

Sodium again, looks through the roof.

Not sure what's going on here. Email me if you get the chance. We need to keep that 1450 safe and happy. I might need it for pollen LOL!

do another test, its to salty, to high in pottasium and very hard to corect. Your test might have contaminated with something. send a new on to a&l and post your percent cation saturation to.

Spoke with the lab earlier today. I thought the numbers seemed way off too. I'm not sure if it was a bad test or bad sampling so I'm going to have anther test done.

take bout 40 little samples 6 inch deep for a good representation of your soil, mix em up good and let it dry for a night maybe two.

C&J products for soil test Jamie. Criag Lembke is really, really, good Jamie. I used A&L for last three years, nothing wrong but nothing really gained. Craig taught me more in a single test then I could ever imagine. Just my .02 cents worth
